A builder with product and business judgment

AI is my personal passion and hands-on practice. As Chief Data & AI Officer at Altery, a regulated UK electronic-money institution, I lead a team of four data scientists and a data engineer. I design and implement agent systems while owning the operating environment around them. Outside work, I build and ship independent products.

My background spans 23+ years in technology,18+ of them in banking and fintech, from engineering to C-level. I wrote production code until 2008, led product after that, and returned to hands-on engineering at the end of 2024. As Altery’s Chief Product Officer, I led product and platform delivery. At Bank Otkritie, I oversaw 230+ engineers across 21 teams. I bring customer discovery, commercial judgment and cross-functional leadership to the work I build myself.

Roles and introductions

My first target is an applied AI role at an AI lab: applied AI or forward-deployed engineering, or AI deployment leadership. My second is Head or Director of applied AI in regulated financial services. I build production systems; I am not a research scientist. I work daily with the OpenAI and Anthropic APIs, Claude Code and Codex. Roles that also draw on my product, business and leadership experience are the strongest fit. London-based. Selected work and evidence

  • KYB onboarding and fraud detection. I led agent-assisted KYB onboarding, which saves 5+ hours per case (800+ checks as at October 2026). I built a fraud and PII detection engine with 40+ rules, which I run ad hoc on exported production logs; AI coding agents wrote much of the code under my direction. Technical walkthrough and supporting evidence available on request.
  • Governance retrieval with cited evidence. A technical capability, live as a pilot on one group entity, that retrieves approval-gated, in-scope sources, returns cited evidence, and abstains when the corpus is silent. I built the retrieval and evaluation controls. Walkthrough on request; the employer’s corpus is confidential.
  • Cosmic Copilot, web and iPhone (opens in a new tab). Independently built and monetised, with paying subscribers: product decisions, engineering, analytics and subscription delivery.
